Girls Camp & Youth Conference

GIRLS CAMP
Well for girls camp this year it was a stake one and we just went up Oak City Canyon to the resort. I'm not into the Stake camps so i wasn't too excited but it turned out to be alright. Our theme for camp was 'THE QUEST'. Angie had a non member friend that went up with us so that was way cool and she seemed to like it. We camped in years Angie and her friends were 3rd year, mom was a leader for the 3rd years, and i was a 5th year...i have decided that Girls Camp is alot funner when you are younger. i slept in a really cute blue tent with 3 other oak city girls [kimberly, tawn, kellsey] At camp we got to do a relay race thing where you had to separate an egg, measure out a cup of flour, dress a baby doll, name 8 outta 10 kitten utensils, set a table properly (there were like 2 plates, 3 forks, 2 spoons, a knife, napkin, and cup), peel a potato, roll out a pie crust, sew on a button, and do a cross word about kitchen stuff. We made cute little recipe books, talked about traditions, and played 'Are You Smarter Than Your Mother?' We sang songs, listened to speakers, had testimony meetings, learned a slap dance, hiked, and did a retiring of a flag. It was way awesome. All in all it was a pretty good camp. I think Angie's friend had lots of fun and i think she liked the testimony meeting so that is good, she said she had never cried so much in her life except for in movies, and she also said she was going to get up but she was too scared.

YOUTH CONFERENCE
This was just a ward thing and we just went up the Canyon for this one too, and i guess our theme was 'ENDURING TO THE END'. We went up and camped in North Walker. When we first got there we did an Iron Rod activity where we were blind folded and we had to hold on to a rope as we stumbled over giant sagebrushes and rocks and there were people trying to talk you into getting off. I think it is a pretty real demonstration since it is people you know that try to get you to do the wrong things in life that lead you astray. But me and Angie made it to the End so that was good! [but my personal opinion of why the leaders had us do it was to watch us slumble around blindly haha] After that we set up camp, ate, and just hung out until time for some people to talk to us and then testimony meeting. While we were just hanging out i mostly played my own game haha 'So Who Ya Likin These Days?' Bishop got me a victim although my victim wasn't very good at the game, later on tho i had a couple of boys who were really good at it. In testimony meeting i wasn't going to get up but i kinda wanted to , i kept saying that if a certain person would get up then i would get up so the 3 people i said they got up, then i tried to talk myself out of getting up but then i knew i would feel bad if i didn't, so then the Bishop got up and said that they encourage us to get up and we would regret it and Stephen kept nudging me and telling me he knew i really wanted to get up and stuff so i ended getting up and i'm glad i did. Before we went to bed the boys sang to us while they played their guitars so that was fun. In the morning we got up and ate and then headed out to hike up fool creek peak. which was a pretty difficult hike i don't think it was worth it haha but that is only cuz the next day i was really sore and couldn't walk very good. Once of the peak we packed up and went on home.
